Jae Gems: When I was in art college, I was horrible at drawing.

My skills were just horrible.

I tried to be perfect and get things technically correct nearly as soon as I put the pencil on the paper.

Now I know there’s a better way and not only is what I discovered a better way, but it just makes drawing much more enjoyable.

Back then I put more emphasis on trying to get the anatomical structure precisely correct.

Now I think of the anatomy as shapes and I draw appealing shapes.

I’m not saying I am perfect by any means, but I am a thousand times better than what I was before and it’s all because of this trick.
