How to Mix Blue Paint
I want to share some steps about how to make different blues with paint.
Hello friend!
I want to share some steps from a post I wrote about how to make different blues with paint. If you want to see the pictures, you can check the post at the end.
Your network is hiring. You just don’t know it yet.
Indy AI by Contra helps you find opportunities through your existing network. It connects to LinkedIn and X, then quietly surfaces warm opportunities. No cold outreach. No job boards. No feed fatigue. Just opportunities that find you.
Here are the steps:
Know that blue is a primary color — you can’t make pure blue by mixing other colors.
Make darker blues by mixing blue with purples, greens, or reds instead of using black. For example:
• Ultramarine Blue + Dioxazine Purple
• Adding Pthalo Green or Burnt Umber to blue to make it deeper and richerMake lighter blues by adding white. Even a little white makes blue brighter.
Create muted blues (less bright) by mixing complementary colors. For blue, that could be orange, burnt umber, or mixes that include both yellow and red.
Change the temperature of blue:
• To make blue warmer, add reds or reddish colors like alizarin crimson or burnt sienna.
• To make blue cooler, add greens (like Veronese or Cadmium Green) until it leans toward turquoise or sea-blue.
