I kept thinking the answer was more anatomy practice. More muscle study. More reference sheets pinned to my wall.

Then I learned about action lines — and everything shifted.

Before drawing any limb, any muscle, any face, you start with one single curved line that captures the entire movement of the pose. It sounds almost too simple. But when you understand how an S-curve versus a C-curve changes the feel of a character — relaxed vs. dynamic, soft vs. powerful — you start seeing poses completely differently.
